As a nationally recognized expert in education and parenting,
Lisa Jacobson is a frequent guest on television news shows and in print media, including
The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and dozens of other major
news outlets. She founded Inspirica in 1983 as one of the first private
tutoring companies in the country.
Lisa began her career as a private math tutor after graduating from Stanford University. She excelled at helping students who thought they were "bad at math" turn around and love the subject. Although private standardized test preparation was new at the time, Lisa soon began to offer SAT support as well, and her students still enjoyed being tutored!
Families responded to her warm, holistic approach to tutoring, and soon she was teaching 80 hours per week. Parents asked Lisa if she knew other tutors who could teach additional subjects and follow a similar, caring approach.
So Lisa set out on a mission: to find and train tutors who could do more than teach academic or testing material. Her tutors would break the mold and be nothing short of inspirational (hence the name Inspirica) – warm and nurturing people with great communication and motivational skills, who also had a passion for teaching. They would be able to build confidence and reduce stress at the same time.
More than twenty-five years later, Inspirica's wonderful tutors continue to change the lives of thousands of students and their families. The varied facets of Lisa's vision — one-on-one studying with an inspirational tutor, constant support and communication, and a caring touch — combined with the knowledge gained in two decades of experience are all hallmarks of the company today.
