“The multiple-choice section is worth roughly two thirds of your writing score, which makes it a great way to pick up points," says Donald Viscardi, a tutor for Inspirica in New York City, If you’ve never diagrammed a sentence, don’t panic. “There are basically five to 10 general types of errors,” Viscardi says. “If you’re attentive to that, to the testmakers’ favorites, there’s a good chance that you’ll see most of those covered.” Three areas to spend extra time on: verb usage, pronoun agreement and parallel structure.
